“Manaswini” is a campus-based novel. Written on the background of College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, Guwahati, the novel portraits an overall campus life of the college. The novel “Manaswini” narrates the ups and downs confronted by a middle-class girl admitted to a professional city college. Manaswini, the heroin of the novel shouldered the responsibility of monitress but on the course of time due to the conspiracy of the warden Manaswini and some of her classmates had to boycott the farewell function of the hostel. After bachelor degree Manaswini served the state department for few years and returned to the same college for post-graduation. After attaining post-graduation, Manaswini applied for the post of assistant processor’s post in her post-graduation department surgery. But she was deprived of the post as Vice-chancellor selected his nephew illegally by influencing the selection committee. After fighting an odd battle at court Manaswini got the opportunity to join as assistant professor, but she forewent the post for her next candidate in waiting whose father was a cancer patient. Several mind-boggling incidents that happened in the college campus as well as inside the walls of the hostel also find it’s places in the novel.
