The book is an anthology of literary criticism on Assamese literature written by Assamese critic Abhigyan Anurag. It basically surveys literary trends coinciding Assamese culture and society dating back to Lakshminath Bezbarooa, the doyen of Assamese literature, to the contributors of the 21st century. The critical deliberations of the book covers how the progressive perception of the 70s of Assamese literature shifts to romantic ideal and finally limping over to modernism. The juxtaposition among new writers of Assamese literature while adhering to social realism is another exploration on the part of the author of the book. The most significant aspect of the book is that it explores various facets of treatment of themes of the recent practitioners who constantly engage themselves to keep eye on hard actualities of present day times. They also notice as to how social and political trends shift from one dimension to another. Basically the book discovers that in comparison to the past creators of the Assamese literary heritage, the new arrivals make frantic efforts to paint the society in their genre as it is with mostly metaphorical applications.
